Royal Jelly is a honey bee secretion fed to all larvae

Royal Jelly is a honey bee secretion fed to all larvae, and adult queens.
When a queen is sick, weak, or dead, workers choose several larvae and feed them large amounts of royal jelly in special "queen cells", triggering development of the larvae into a queen. When the queens hatch, they will fight to the death under normal circumstances, leaving only one queen to continue the hive.
